Overview

The 2nd edition of the International Algarve Sevens rugby tournament will take place on the weekend of the 7th - 10th June 2019, at the magnificent Vila Real de Santo Antonio Stadium & Sports complex in Eastern Algarve. This complex is considered the best beach and sports resort in Europe as the Algarve presents the idyllic venue for a memorable sevens tournament. The Algarve 7s is quickly establishing itself as the best and most entertaining rugby sevens international tournament in Europe. In 2018 we had more than 40 team taking part in the inaugural edition with 25 coming from all countries in the world in all competitions. For 2019 we expect the event to attract even more and better sevens teams in all competitions. Off the pitch there will also be several side events making sure the Algarve Sevens experience is as intensive off the pitch as on the pitch!

The ALGARVE SEVENS team is delighted to be hosting you at the fabulous Vila Real de Santo Antonio Stadium & Sports Complex.

The Complex is one of the most highly regarded sports centers in Europe. The complex is a high performance training center accredited by the IAAF and is recognized by the Portuguese Olympic Committee as an Official Training Centre. The stadium & sports center is close to the beach resort of Monte Gordo where all players and teams taking part in the Algarve sevens will be accommodated. The center is located walking distance from the Algarve Sevens official hotel/accommodation unit (s).

Located on the outskirts of the city of Vila Real de Santo Antonio (VRSA), is easily accessible from Faro, Seville or Lisbon International Airports. The fantastic climate of the Algarve and the golden beach sands of Monte Gordo combined with the first class sports facilities available for players/team and supporters make this a unique proposal for all taking part or just coming for a fun weekend away.

There will be a bar and restaurant serving snacks and meals throughout both days of the ALGARVE SEVENS tournament for all teams taking part in the event.

Official Hotel

Hotel Yellow Monte Gordo 4*

The Algarve Sevens official hotel – Hotel Yellow Monte Gordo 4* - is located walking distance away from the tournament venue and only 100 metres away from the Monte Gordo Beach. The hotel provides spacious suites, some of which have a balcony and/or overlook the Atlantic Ocean. It also features both an indoor and outdoor pool plus a modern gym. All rooms at Yellow Monte Gordo Beach Hotel are equipped with satellite TV, a mini-bar and safety deposit box.

Every room has a private bathroom which includes a hairdryer. A daily buffet breakfast is included in the Algarve Sevens tournament package. The Casino Monte Gordo is 300 m away and the Faro International Airport is 40 minutes’ drive away.

Please note that every effort will be made to ensure players and teams staff are located on the same floor however due to the configuration of the hotel this is not always possible. All teams will be provided with free internet access in their room for the duration of their stay and be given a code on arrival at the hotel in order to access the internet.

DAY 2 | Saturday 08th June 2019
• Breakfast at the hotel restaurant.
• Tournament Day 1 - 3 games minimum per team.
• Return transfer to hotel after the games.
• Dinner at hotel (optional)
• Overnight accommodation at one of the official hotels.
DAY 3 | Sunday 09th June 2019
• Breakfast at the hotel restaurant.
• Tournament Day 2 – Finals - 3 games minimum per team regardless of results from Day 1.
• Tournament Awards after the finals.
• Return transfer to hotel after the games.
• Algarve 7s End of Tournament Party! for all teams to take part.
• Overnight accommodation at one of the official hotels.
DAY 4 | Monday 10th June 2019
• Breakfast at the hotel restaurant.
• Teams depart or for continue touring following a fantastic tournament.
